Back again re new garage door opener

back again re: new garage door opener

i posted a message re: most reliable garage door opener. thanks to all who responded. before i throw in the towel, i'm giving this one last ditch effort. i actually have a garage door opener, works just fine. but the prior homeowners lost the remote, and i've had a bear of a time locating a replacement. the model is a touch-n-go, model 100. company has been bought out, and i can't find parts. i'm being told that the opener is analog, vs today's digital? no one works with these any more. i hate to trash this unit, just because i can't find a remote. but, i am also lazy, and do not like to have to get out of the car in the cold, to press the button, from inside the breezeway. can anyone help me?????? You can buy a Universal Remote (analog) at most Sears, Home Depot, or Lowes. You need to make sure the dip switches are set on your remote to exactly the same positions as on your garage door opener. if it had dipswitches, that would solve the problem. but this thing is so old, that it is pre-dipswitch era!! You may be right, however, Humor me, just in case you are not. Go to the actual garage door opener, and look for the control panel, see if it has a pigtail antenna hanging down from it. Remove the cover, and if you are like me, at this point you may need a magnifying glass or some reading glasses. Look for some very small switches (about 1/8 inch high and 1/32 inch wide), all in a line. These are the dip switches I was referring to earlier. If you find them post back. If you don't find them, be kind, and post back also. Good Luck, Rick i've already done that. i removed the cover to look for dipswitches, thinking a could buy a universal remote. but i could not find any. i then went on a mad search of the web, and was told that touch n go was sold to blah blah blah, and i probably would not be able to find a replacement remote (or it would be cheaper to just purchase a whole new unit). that being said, i will humor you, and check again. I'm not sure if it's still around, but they use to have a complete set (Transmitter and receiver) that you could wire into the same wires that the pushbutton used.I think it was about $59. Try Sears. But if the unit is that old, you might consider a new opener. The new ones come with manditory sensors to keep the door from closing on children or pets. You can get a decent unit for probably around $139. did you ever get a satisfactory remote? I have touch n go opener and the remote has given up. Cannot find replacement. Would appreciate your response. Greetings...I have 2 of the touch n go 100 models presently...the dip switches are inside the brown plastic box...clamped inside of the main cover...(has the antenna hanging out)...open the box...lift out the pc board...flip it over.....remote has switches inside it also....hope this helped.... I have a Touch N Go and ended up without a remote. I went to www.accesstransmitters.com for my replacement. My model does not have dip swithches, so they are sending me a new reciever and remote - you will have to look at the model to find out what frequency it runs on - really simple!!....cost about $40.00. Hope this helps!! I have two of these garage door openers. They are about 25 years old and work well. The remotes broke a long time ago and we had them replaced in July of 2008. The openers do not work with universal remotes, but I went to a garage door store and they were able to help me out with two different remotes. One for each door because they have to be on different frequencies. I have the dip switches on both the Touch N' Go 1000 Solid State opener and my Chamberlain remote set the same. However it still does not work. Does this have to do with the frequency? If not any clues would be nice. Thanks in advance. Contact your door dealer and order a Linear MDRU receiver and a matching transmitter. It will plug into the wall and connect to the two wire common and relay terminal that activates your opener. The same thing can be accomplished with a Chamberlain 65LM and associated transmitter. Al things being considered however, if your operator is pre-1993 it should be replaced due to safety concerns.
