Troubleshoot An Emerson Vcr

Emerson VCRs, like many other VCRs, allow you to playback VHS tapes, as well as record footage from your TV. Not only are they easy-to-use, they also come in a variety of models that all vary in features. There are times when you run into display and recording problems that diminish your VCR's performance. These problems are usually common, and can be solved quickly using some simple troubleshooting steps and guidelines.


Instructions


1. Check the connections on the back of the VCR and make sure that they are correctly connected if you cannot see any images. Make sure the coaxial cable is connected firmly on both the TV and the VCR.








2. Make sure the TV is set to either channel 3 or 4. Push the channel switch on the back of the VCR to either channel 3 or 4, depending on the channel on which you have the TV set (3 or 4).


3. Press the "Preset" button to scan for the channels if the connections are fine. If you still do not see the channels, check your cable or satellite connection and make sure that there is a signal.


4. Clean the VCR's head if the images are unclear or experiencing frequent glitches. There is a chance the head is dusty and needs cleaning. To clean the head, insert the head cleaning tape and follow the guided instructions. Head cleaning tapes vary in directions; therefore, pay attention to the guided prompts.








5. Check your tape if you are having a hard time recording. Make sure the tape is fully rewound and the read-only lock is disabled. When the read-only lock is enabled, the tape prevents you from recording additional footage to it.
