Microsoft ActiveSync makes it easy for you to back up data on an HP iPAQ. Here are the steps.
Instructions
Backing Up Data to a Computer
1. Install Microsoft ActiveSync if you haven't already. Use either the installation CD or download it from the Microsoft Web site (see Resources, below).
2. Connect your HP iPAQ to your computer.
3. Open ActiveSync.
4. Select "Tools" from the menu bar at the top. From the "Tools" menu, select "Backup/Restore."
5. Click the "Full Backup" option.
6. Click "Backup Now."
7. Wait for the backup to complete. You should get a message when the backup has successfully completed.
Restoring Data
8. Restore you data using the same program. Open ActiveSync. Select "Tools" from the menu bar at the top. From the "Tools" menu select "Backup/Restore."
9. Select the "Restore" tab and click "Restore Now."
10. Select the restore profile that you want.
11. Wait for restore to complete, and then disconnect and restart your HP iPAQ.
