Troubleshoot Viewsat Pro

Linking cable, sound, television, a DVD player and other media to one device is the primary use of the Viewsat Pro digital satellite receiver. After heavy use, you may begin to have problems with your device. Following a few simple steps will allow you to peform your own basic maintenance and save you frustration and money. Learn to correct a Viewsat that isn't receiving power, remedy a television screen with no picture, check your connection cables for damage and investigate a device experiencing sound issues.


Instructions








1. Check your power cord and connection if the "Power" LED light on the front of the panel isn't illuminated. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Test the wall outlet you're using with another device to confirm that both the device and outlet is functional. Examine the power cord for cuts, dents or other damage. Plug the power cord firmly back into the wall.


2. Press the power button either on the front panel or the remote control to wake up the system, if you're not seeing a picture on the screen, as the system may have slipped into standby mode. Check the video inputs going into the television and your device. Turn the Viewsat so you are able to view the back panel. Check your connections in the "Out to TV" RF cable jack, the "S-Video" jack or the "Video Audio R/L Component" jacks to make sure the connection is snug and secure. Check the cables for damage. Check the cable's connections to the television and make sure each is securely and snugly connected. Unplug all connections, wait a few minutes, and then reseat them to reset the connection. Check the "Ch 3, 4" switch on the back of the Viewsat to make sure the channel on the TV and device are consistent with each other. Confirm that the correct video output has been selected through your TV menu.








3. Check your audio cords on the back of the unit, if you don't hear sound. Turn the Viewsat to face you. Unplug the audio connections from the audio receptors (located underneath the "Video" receptor). Check the cords for damage. Reseat the connections, making sure to align the white cable with the white receptor (left audio) and the red cable with the red receptor (right audio). Turn the volume knob (located on the front panel to the right of the "Power" button) clockwise to turn the volume up, or use the remote to raise the volume by pushing the "Volume Up" button. Press the "Mute" key on the remote control to make sure the "Mute" function isn't in use.
