Program Xm Receivers

XM Radio is a satellite-broadcast radio company. In 2008, the company officially merged with its chief rival in the satellite radio trade, Sirius. The company became Sirius XM Radio. For those with XM Radio receivers that were produced before the merger, fear not. They are still operational. Here is program the XM receiver.

Instructions

Activating Your Account

1. Power on your receiver. No matter which unit you have, be sure that it is fully charged and has gone through all of the "intro" screens that appear when the power is turned on. When fully powered on, you should hear an XM Radio preview when you turn to the XM Preview channel, or channel 1.

2. Obtain the XM Radio ID. Located on the back or underside of the unit, there is an eight-character alpha-numeric ID. This may also be obtained by tuning to channel 0 on the unit and pressing the "Select" button.

3. Log in to the website's activation page (see Resources). Once on the website, you will follow a comprehensive walk-through to set up your account. You will need your XM Radio ID number as well as a credit card to complete the setup.

4. Call XM at 800-XMRADIO to set up your account via phone. You will need your credit card and the XM Radio ID to set up the account.

Programming Your Receiver

5. Program favorite channels using the "Seek" function. Press the "Source" button until the "XM" logo is displayed on your unit's interface. Press and hold either of the "Seek" buttons ("") to scroll through channels until you come to one of your favorites. Press the "Shuf" (Shuffle) button to bring up your current preset channels. Keep in mind an empty preset number and press the "Disc/Preset" button to input the number. Press the number to which you would like to assign a station and press and hold the "Disc/Preset" button for two seconds.

6. Program the time. Press the "Menu" button to bring up the various options. Scroll down until you reach the "Set Clock" option, and select this. Here you have three options; "Time Zone," "12/24 Hour" and "Daylight Savings." Selecting the "Time Zone" option will allow you to input where you are located globally, which will set the time automatically. If you would like to go on military or international time, select the "12/24 Hour" option and adjust it to "24 Hour." If you are currently in a region that recognizes daylight savings time, you may make the proper adjustments under the "Daylight Savings" option.

7. Program the unit to come on automatically. The unit is set to shut off when the vehicle is turned off and must be manually turned back on the next time your vehicle is driven. To have it come on automatically when your vehicle starts, scroll down in the "Menu" options to the option "Auto-On." Change the setting from "Off" to "On."

8. Add stocks into the "Stock Ticker" mode. To have the XM interface act as a miniature stock ticker, scroll down to the "Stock Ticker" option in the "Menu" screen. Select "Add Stocks" and scroll up and down to reach the desired stock. With each one highlighted, press the "Select" button to add it to your rotation for the streaming stock ticker.
