Use The E510 With A Strobe Flash

A strobe flash cable can be substituted by a remote trigger.

The Olympus E-510 is a mid-level DSLR camera. It offers the benefits of a digital camera, such as instant review, without the high price tag of more sophisticated models. It can be used with strobe flash units, which are high-powered flash devices used in studio photography. The E-510 does not have a dedicated strobe cable jack, but it can use its hot shoe bracket to fire studio flashes using a remote trigger. This method is actually easier due to the lack of tethered cables.

Instructions

1. Slide the remote trigger into the hot shoe bracket on top of the camera by aligning the pins and pushing slowly until the edges are flush.

2. Tighten the ring attachment by rotating it to lock the trigger to the camera.

3. Plug in another trigger to the strobe flash using the trigger's cable.

4. Set both triggers to same wireless channel and turn them on. Then turn on the camera flash.

5. Set the strobe and camera to your desired settings. Press the shutter button fully to take a picture. The camera will activate the trigger, which will fire the flash remotely.
