Make An International Call To A Cell Phone

More and more people are using their cell phones as their primary phone. Rather than staying near the phone to wait for a call, they simply carry their phone with them. This can create some interesting situations when working in a global environment. Two people from different countries could be literally down the street from one another but will be required to dial an international phone number to reach the other. More and more people are therefore learning make international calls on a cell phone.

Making an Internatioanl Cell Phone Call


1. Dial the "+" symbol. Usually this will be accomplished by pressing and holding the "0" key.








2. Dial the country code for the country the receiving cell phone has its service in. The country code for the U.S. is "1," which is why all long distance calls begin with "1." If you have a U.S.-based carrier and you are calling a cell phone that is attached to an Australian-based carrier, you would dial the country code "61."


3. Dial the state code. For the U.S., this is called the "area code." State codes can be found on a variety of informational Web sites.


4. Dial the local number and press send. Your international call should connect.
