Is A Canon Ex Speedlite External Flash Compatible With An Sx10is

All Canon EX speedlites, also known as a speedlight, are compatible with the Canon SX10IS camera. Connect the speedlight to the camera with each device turned off. Other flash accessories are available for the two devices to increase versatility.

Pocket Wizards

To have an EX speedlite fire when it is not mounted on the Canon SX10 IS, use two Pocket Wizard transceivers. Mount one on the SX10's hot shoe and connect the other to the EX speedlite with a sync cord. When you press the shutter release, the transceivers will communicate to fire the flash.

Infrared Technology

Connecting the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 to the hot shoe of the SX10 IS allows you to control the settings of the EX flash while it is off-camera through infrared technology. The transmitter works best in low-light situations.

Proper Aperture

Be sure to always set the aperture to f8 or smaller when using EX speedlites. The flashes are bright, and if the aperture setting on the camera is too wide, the pictures will be over-exposed.
