Repair A Polaroid Camera

When your Polaroid camera needs repair, you might not need to call for service. Common problems, such as power, shutter button and focusing are all worth trying to solve yourself. Apply easy troubleshooting techniques, and you will likely save money and have more time for downloading new images.

Instructions

1. Reload the batteries if the power doesn't come on. Verify that the polarity or positive and negative battery ends match the illustrations in the battery compartment. Replace exhausted batteries two at a time when the startup screen flashes after you turn on the camera.

2. Turn off the camera and wait until 15 minutes or until it cools down sufficiently if the camera or batteries feel warm.

3. Press the shutter button down completely if it doesn't take a picture when you press it. Wait until the LED indicator stops blinking and turns a solid red color, and then press the shutter button. Delete unwanted files or replace the memory card if the shutter button still doesn't take a picture when you press it.

4. Move the write-protection switch on the memory card to the unlock position if the shutter button still doesn't take a picture when you press it. Replace the memory card with a Polaroid brand if the shutter button still doesn't take a picture when you press it.

5. Cancel file protection if a file can't be deleted. Press the "Playback" button and display the file that you want to remove protection. Use the up/down buttons to make your selection. Select "Protect." Press the "Shutter" button. Select "Unlock Current." Press the "Shutter" button.

6. Wipe off the camera lens with lens paper or a clean, soft, dry cloth if the images are blurry or the camera doesn't focus correctly. Move within the effective range, typically between 35.4 and 59.1 inches from the subject. Do this instead of using the digital zoom if graininess occurs when you use that feature.

7. Verify that the installed SD/SDHC memory card has a fast enough speed if you're trying to record video clips. If not, select a lower video recording size. Several Polaroid cameras have a maximum recording time limit of 59 minutes and 59 seconds.
