Set Up Cd Storage Sleeves

CD storage sleeves are a way to manage a CD collection if you don't want to carry around their original jewel cases and also offer protection from scratches. Storage sleeves can be an easy and compact way to transport dozens (if not hundreds) of CDs in a manageable way. If you're using CD storage sleeves for the first time, there are a few things to keep in mind to avoid scratching or otherwise ruining the discs.

Instructions

1. Place the CD into a storage sleeve with the data (or "shiny") side of the disc facing the cloth portion of the sleeve. The data side of the disc is where the music is stored, and even one scratch on this side in the wrong place can cause the disc to skip or become unplayable.

2. Use only one disc per sleeve. If two CDs are placed in the same storage sleeve, it essentially defeats the purpose of using the sleeves. A CD that is touching another CD in the sleeve is likely to be scratched or damaged in some way.

3. Inspect the CD storage sleeves to make sure they are clean before inserting the discs. CD storage sleeves, especially the cloth portion that touches the disc, must be free of dust and debris before being used to store discs in order to avoid the possibility of damage. If the data side of the CD gets dusty while in the sleeve, it could prevent a CD player from being able to read the data on the disc.
