Dvd Cleaning Discs

DVD cleaning discs are small discs that look similar to regular DVDs except that they actually clean the player as they run. These are available from most mass merchandise stores as well as electronics stores and places that sell movies. Regular cleaning is a way to keep the player working in peak condition.

Function

DVD cleaning discs are used to clean the heads rotating inside the player that read the information on the discs. It slides right inside the DVD player just like any regular DVD, but as it runs through the cycle, it cleans the individual heads. It is used when people notice any skipping or problems with their player such as difficulties in reading a disc. It is also used by those who want to keep their player working in perfect condition and as a preemptive measure.

Types

There are two different types of DVD cleaning disc--one that works with a liquid and a dry cleaner. The liquid cleaner has a brush attached to the top of the disc. The user applies a few drops of cleaner to the brush before inserting the disc into the player. The dry disc cleaner works the same way except that it doesn't use the liquid. The brush itself moves around the heads to clear off any dirt or debris trapped in the player.

Features

The disc cleaner looks exactly like a regular DVD except for a few differences. The top of the disc contains a label that identifies it as a cleaner as opposed to a regular disc. On the bottom is a small rectangular shaped brush with hard and stiff bristles. The liquid version of the cleaner comes with a small bottle of cleansing solution. The liquid is dropped onto the brush and placed directly inside of the player.

Considerations

When using a DVD disc cleaner it's important to keep in mind that it doesn't cure or solve all problems. There is still a chance that there is something wrong with the player itself that requires professional help. There are also instances where the cycle needs to be run multiple times to properly clean the head, especially if it the player hasn't been cleaned in awhile. Users should also pay attention to how many times they have used the cleaner since it only works a number of times.

Benefits

Using a DVD disc cleaner ensures that the player itself will function for longer than it would otherwise. Proper cleaning can keep a DVD player working in top condition for years more than it would without cleaning. It also stops the player from damaging any discs. A dirty player can scratch discs due to the dirt trapped on the heads. It is also a money saver because it saves the user from costly repairs or spending money on a replacement player.
