Install A Car Equalizer On A Clarion En809

Installing an equalizer onto your car audio system gives you the ability to control the sound of your system beyond the Bass and Treble adjustments found on most decks. The equalizer will be installed between the head unit and the Clarion EN-809 power amplifier. Find a good place to mount your equalizer, closer to the amplifier the better, and screw the EQ to the vehicle and prepare to install it to the Clarion EN-809.

Instructions

1. Access the wire harness going to the head unit by removing the deck. Being that there are several styles of head units on the market, it is recommended you consult your deck's user's guide for proper deck removal procedures.

2. Find the blue wire in the wire harness; this will be the remote turn on wire. Gently cut into the jacket using your wire cutters, being careful not to cut through the wire underneath the jacket. Slide the jacket down to expose the bare wire.

3. Attach the remote turn on wire on the equalizer to the blue wire by twisting the bare wire off the EQ to the exposed wire on the blue wire making sure the two wires are touching each other. Wrap the two wires together with electrical tape.

4. Insert the end of the power wire into the "Power" input on the EQ. Loosen the screw on the power input so there is enough room to slide the sire underneath it. With the wire inserted, tighten the screw to hold the wire into place.

5. Place the fuse tap on the end of the power wire crimp or squeeze the neck of the tap with the wire cutters so the wire doesn't come out. Run the wire to the vehicles fuse box. Insert the fuse tap into an open switched 12-volt source.

6. Loosen the screw on the ground input on the EQ. Insert the end of the ground wire into the ground input and then tighten the screw.

7. Take the other end of the ground wire and attach it to any clean metal on the vehicle's chassis. The easiest way to do this is to find a nearby bolt on the vehicle's chassis and wrap the wire around it.

8. Insert the end of the RCA cable into the "Audio In" on the EQ. Match the red plug with the red input and the white plug with the white input. Take the other end of the RCA's and insert them into the "Audio Out" on the Clarion EN-809.
