Use a Blow Dryer Diffuser
A blow dryer diffuser is a device which fits onto the end of a blow dryer and assists in drying curly hair. While those with straight hair can use a diffuser, it's more beneficial for those with wavy or curly hair. Diffusers help to distribute heat evenly over the entire head and help to encourage curls while drying the hair. Whereas standard blow dryers often result in curly hair looking frizzy and untamed, a diffuser can help you achieve tame, silky curls.
Instructions
1. Affix your diffuser onto your blow dryer. It should fit simply over the end of your blow dryer. Push it down into place until it is firmly attached to the dryer.
2. Apply any styling product you wish to your wet hair. Gels and mousses work well to ensure your curls stay in place throughout the day.
3. Turn your blow dryer onto its low setting. You can use a diffuser on a medium setting also; however, you may find you have the best results with the least amount of heat and force. Never put your blow dryer on high while the diffuser is attached. This can cause the diffuser to melt.
4. Place the diffuser at the roots of your hair and move it in a circular motion. This will shape your curls from the roots and dry them in the process.
5. Turn your head upside down for extra lift. With your hair hanging down towards the floor, move the diffuser across your roots in the same circular motion. When you flip your hair back over, you will notice substantially more volume.
6. Put the diffuser at the ends of your hair and scoop your hair up into it as you move it up towards your roots. Whereas you might normally scrunch your hair up with your hands to encourage your curls, let the diffuser do it for you. Once you have scrunched a section of your hair, let it sit in the diffuser for about 15 seconds before moving on to the next section. Finish with a blast of cool air, provided your blow dryer offers a cool setting. This will help to set the curls and give your hair some extra shine.
