Fix A Kodak C633 Lens Error

The Kodak EasyShare C633 is a digital point-and-shoot camera. Like many point-and-shoot cameras, the Kodak C633 features a lens that retracts into the camera body when the camera is switched off. This lens, under normal circumstances, extends when the camera is turned on, and further extends when the user zooms in on a scene. However, certain errors both electronic and physical can cause problems with the EasyShare's lens drive. When this occurs, the camera will display the text "Lens Error" in the LCD and fail to turn on.

Instructions

1. Open the camera's battery compartment at the bottom of the camera. Remove the batteries and verify that they have been inserted the correct way round in the camera. The positive (raised) end of the battery should match the positive (marked with a plus sign) contact in the battery compartment.

2. Clean the contacts inside the battery compartment with a soft cloth. You may find it helpful to drape the cloth over the eraser side of a pencil in order to provide the reach and friction necessary to clean the contacts.

3. Open the side compartment on the right side of the camera and remove the memory card by pressing in on it until it releases.

4. Replace batteries with new or fully-charged batteries. Use only lithium or Ni-Mh (nickel-metal hydride) rechargeable batteries as per Kodak's recommendations.

5. Close the side compartment (do not replace the memory card) and the battery compartment. Turn on the camera. If the error persists, contact Kodak customer support through the "Step-by-Step Solutions & Repair" link on the C633 support page (see Resources).
