Switch Programs On A Blackberry

The OS in a Blackberry, like Microsoft Windows, sends open applications and programs to the background while you're working. Switching from one program to another on your Blackberry is as easy as switching between programs using keyboard shortcuts in Windows. Whether you're in a rush or simply consider yourself a multitasking machine, these steps can provide the quickest methods for switching between programs on a Blackberry.

Instructions

1. Hold the "Alt" key and then press and release the "Esc" button to show an icon drop down menu of running applications.

2. Use your Blackberry's track wheel to select the program that you wish to use from the icon drop-down menu.

3. Release the "Alt" key to bring that program's open window to the foreground of your Blackberry screen. Keep in mind, if you are switching between applications to find unnecessary ones to close, that several programs (such as Call Log and Messages) cannot be closed (i.e. they are necessary for your Blackberry to work correctly).

4. Press the "Menu" key, if you do not want to use the "Alt"/"Esc" combination while in an open application, and then click "Switch Application." Either highlight the application and press the "Enter" key, or highlight "Home Screen" and press "Enter" to select a different open application.

5. Assign a frequently used application to one of your convenience keys to quickly switch between applications. To assign an application to a convenience key, click "Screen/Keyboard" in the device options, set the convenience key fields, press the "Menu" key and then select "Save."
