Connect An Old Vcr To Record On A Satellite Receiver

Connecting an old VCR to a satellite receiver will allow you to record a TV show. However, you also need to hook up the VCR to the TV to view the recorded show. After the VCR is connected to the satellite and the TV, you can record the same channel that you are watching, and play it back whenever you wish.

Instructions

1. Connect the coaxial cable coming into the house from the satellite dish to the input on the receiver.

2. Connect a second coaxial cable from the output on the satellite receiver to the input on the VCR.

3. Connect another coaxial cable from the output on the VCR to the cable input on the TV.

4. Both the VCR and TV should be set to channel 3. To record, simply tune the satellite to the desired program, turn on the VCR and press "Record." When you are ready to play the recording, hit "Play" and the recording will appear on the TV screen. Some VCRs will require you to change the "TV/Video" or "TV/VCR" switch to "Video" or "VCR" for playback. Switch back to "TV" to watch what's on the satellite. When the VCR is turned off, the satellite signal will pass through the VCR directly to the TV.

5. If you wish to play back the recording using RCA composite cables, simply connect the audio/video "Out" plugs on the VCR to the matching "In" plus on the TV, using a red, white and yellow RCA composite cable. In this case, you'll switch the TV to the video input for playback, rather than channel 3.
