Reset A Slingbox Password

Slingbox has an administrator password and a basic password. A basic password allows a user to connect but not edit the player settings. Common reasons for resetting a password include a lost/misplaced password or the need to reconfigure the Slingbox to another router.

Instructions

Administrator Password Reset

1. Reset the Slingbox. Press and hold the reset button for five seconds. For most models, it is located on the back of the Slingbox on the left hand side. The lights will flash from left to right, followed by a slow flash. After 30 seconds the Slingbox is reset to factory settings.

2. Access your Slingbox from the Slingplayer application. Open Slingplayer and select "Slingbox directory" from the "View" menu. Choose your Slingbox from the list and click "Edit Properties" on the right hand side of the screen.

3. Open the Slingbox configuration settings. Click on the "Slingbox configuration tab" and select the "Change" icon in the "Slingbox Settings" box. Click the "Next" button to load your settings.

4. Name your Slingbox when prompted. Click "Next" after entering a new name.

5. Set the new administrator password in the password change screen. Make sure to confirm the password in the second text field. Save your new settings by clicking "Next." Click "Finish" when you are ready to exit the setup wizard. Set the new basic password in the password change screen.
