The Canon EOS 5D Mark II can be used with many high-quality lenses.
The Canon EOS 5D Mark II is a professional-grade full-frame digital SLR camera. It was released in early 2009 and supersedes the Canon EOS 5D. It has a Canon EF lens mount, meaning it can be used with a wide variety of camera lenses from Canon and third-party manufacturers.
Types
Canon has a wide range of lenses compatible with the EOS 5D Mark II. Any lens designed to fit a Canon EF mount can be used. This includes the range of EF and L series lenses. Additionally, several other manufacturers sell lenses designed for this camera, including Tamron, Sigma and Tokina.
Identification
Most lenses can be identified by looking at the information printed on the outside rim. Canon EF lenses often have a red ring painted around the barrel. Canon L lenses are usually painted white. Third-party lenses should state which mounting system they will fit. Every lens should include a specification sheet containing this information.
Warning
Canon EF-S lenses are not directly compatible with full-frame DSLR cameras, and could cause significant internal damage if an attempt is made to attach or modify such lenses. This could include breaking the camera's focusing mirror or electrical connectors on the lens mount. At the very least, image quality could be degraded.
