If you can't capture images, insert a new blank memory stick.
Sony Mavica cameras capture high-quality images and save them to multiple media storage types, such as memory sticks and floppy disks. Upon setting up and using your Mavica, you might experience challenges with functions, such as image deletion, zooming in and out, dark images, or power loss. Before bringing your camera along for special occasions and sporting events, you'll want to confirm that you won't have to struggle with capturing memories.
Instructions
Inoperative Zoom
1. Push the "Play/Still/Movie" switch, located on the back of the camera under the display, over to "Still" as a first step to deactivate Panfocus mode and correct a non-functioning zoom.
2. Push the "Program AE" button located below the "Play/Still/Movie" button until you reach "Panfocus Mode," which will appear on your display.
3. Push the "Program AE" button again, until the LCD screen turns off, to deactivate "Panfocus Mode." Panfocus mode changes focus fast from a close subject to a distant subject and prevents the zoom buttons, located on the front of the camera below the "Shutter Release," from operating.
Dark Pictures
4. Push the "Play/Still/Movie" switch over to "Movie" or "Still" as a first step to correcting a scene that's too dark. Use the navigation buttons to access the main menu and select "Camera" and then scroll down to select "Exposure."
5. Use the four-way navigation button located below the display to the right on the camera back to raise or lower the exposure value.
6. Watch the picture in the monitor as you raise the exposure in increments of thirds all the way to "+2.0 EV." Raise the exposure value until your subject is evenly lit, and snap the picture by pushing the "Shutter Release" button located on the top of the camera to the right.
Image Won't Delete
7. Push the "Play/Still/Movie" switch over to "Play" as a first step towards correcting a file that won't delete.
8. Use the four-way navigation button to select the image that you would like to delete.
9. Select "File," "Protect," and "Off" to remove the protect from the file. You can now delete the file.
Power Loss
10. Turn the camera over and slide the battery chamber door switch up to correct a camera that suddenly loses power or on which the buttons don't work.
11. Remove the battery pack from the chamber, and check its metal contacts for grime. If they're dirty, clean them with a cleaning cloth. Insert the battery back into the chamber and close the battery door.
12. Plug the charger/power supply into the "DC In" jack on the left side of the camera, and plug the other end into a wall outlet. Allow the battery to charge fully for approximately 150 minutes. If the battery still doesn't hold a charge, leave the charger plugged into the camera to power it.
