Canon offers a wide range of digital cameras, from professional DSLRs to simple point-and-shoot models. As an alternative to using editing software provided with the camera, you can download pictures with Windows 7's integrated transfer utility. All that is required for this method is the USB transfer cable included with your Canon camera. Using Windows 7's utility allows greater flexibility by enabling camera access from any Windows 7 computer without requiring additional software.
Instructions
1. Plug the USB transfer cable from the Canon digital camera to any available USB port on your computer.
2. Power on the digital camera. Click "Import Pictures and Videos Using Windows" from the AutoPlay window.
3. Tag the pictures by entering an optional tag name for them. This allows you to more easily search for photos in Windows 7 using keywords. As an example, if the photos were from your 2011 Cancun vacation, you could write "2011 Cancun Vacation" to automatically tag each photo with that description.
4. Click "Import" to download the photos to your Windows 7 Pictures Library.
