Make A Camera Stabilizer Out Of A Monopod

Eliminating camera shake improves any picture taken.

The whole purpose of a tripod seems to go against the grain of taking photos or shooting a video: the tripod ties you down to one spot in order to stabilize the camera for shooting. You can make a camera stabilizer from a monopod by combining it with a few household parts in just a couple of minutes. Instead of touching the ground, the stabilizer made using the monopod will be portable and keep you mobile so your pictures don't have a static look to them.

Instructions

1. Use scissors to cut a length of string that is almost as long as you are.

2. Tie one end of the string through the large washer. Apply bonding glue to the knot to set it to the washer. Let the bonding glue dry for a couple of hours.

3. Unscrew the tripod mount from the top of the monopod. Discard the rest of the monopod.

4. Tie the other end of the string to the bottom of the tripod mount. Apply bonding glue to the knot to set it to the bottom of the tripod mount. Let the bonding glue dry for a couple of hours.

5. Screw the tripod mount into the tripod hole in the bottom of the camera or camcorder. Put the large washer down on the ground. Put one foot on top of the large washer. Pull up on the camera until the string is taunt. Take a picture or shoot some video now that your camera is stabilized.
