Evenly Disperse Light In A Light Box

Lighting is an important aspect to taking photography.

Light boxes are extremely important in both still and video photography. With a light box, the glossy filter in place diffuses the light given off by professional lighting gear, making it softer and more pleasing to the eye. When using a light box it is important to make sure the entire light box is evenly covered in light. If not, you receive odd shadows and mismatched lighting on the subject you are photographing.

Instructions

1. Place the light you are using directly in the middle of the light box. This allows you to easily fill the entire light box with light.

2. Open up the barn doors on the light all the way. These are the four shutters (one on each side) of the light. Opening up the barn doors all the way fills the light box up completely with light.

3. Step away from the light and light box to make sure there is no light leakage. This occurs when light escapes the barn doors and is not blocked by the light box. Wrap black wrap around the back of the light to prevent any light from escaping. Black wrap is a specially designed tin foil designed to withstand the heat of professional lighting equipment. The wrap is also black to prevent light reflection.
