Minolta Camera Instructions

Konica Minolta is a camera company which folded on March 31st 1006, selling all of its assets to Sony. While the company no longer exists, its cameras are still available used from a variety of sources and users receive service from Sony just as if they had a Sony product. if you've recently acquired a Minolta camera, learning use it is fairly easy to do.

Photo and Video Capabilities

Many of Minolta's cameras offer both photo and video capabilities. On the back of your camera you should see a switch which has a picture of a camera on one side, and a picture of a video camera on the other. Turn the switch to the picture of the camera to take a picture or to the picture of a video camera in order to shoot a video. Both photos and videos are taken by pressing the same shutter button located on the top of your camera.

Automatic Features

All Minolta cameras come with a fully automatic mode which has the camera evaluate the particular situation you're in and adjust the camera's settings accordingly. Minolta cameras will default to being in the fully auto mode. If you have a wheel on the top of your camera turn it to "AUTO" to activate the mode. Minolta cameras also have an autofocus function. To use the autofocus, press the shutter button down halfway. Once your subject is in focus, press the shutter button the remainder of the way in order to take a picture.

Scene Modes

Most Minolta cameras also have built-in scene modes to help you take pictures in various situations. In many cases the different scene modes in your camera can be accessed through turning a wheel on the top of the camera to the icon for that scene mode. Sports is typically designated by a running man, night by a man beside a star, and landscape by a picture of a mountain. If you do not have a wheel on the top of your camera try pressing the menu button (typically located on the back of the camera) and scrolling through the selections to find the scene mode.
