Hook Up Inverters

Whether you're camping or in your boat, there always seems to be a lack of 120-volt wall sockets to run small electronic devices like portable DVD players or fans. Thankfully, there is a device known as a power inverter that converts low voltage DC (direct current) electricity from a battery or other power source to standard 120-volt AC (alternating current) household power. There are a number of different power inverters on the market, but they all primarily work the same way.

Instructions

1. Remove the positive (red) and negative (black) screw from the two posts on the back of the inverter.

2. Place the O-ring on the positive lead wire of the lighter adapter over the positive post on the inverter, and tighten the screw back in place. Do the same to connect the negative O-ring of the lighter adapter.

3. Plug the cigarette lighter adapter plug into either the lighter port on your boat or RV, or into your portable battery pack.

4. Plug your 120-volt appliance into the 120-volt plug hole on the other side of the power inverter and then flip the power button on.

5. Turn on your 120-volt item to ensure the inverter is working.
