IPhones have used the multimedia messaging service -- or MMS -- to send picture texts since September 2009. Only slightly more complicated that sending a traditional text message, MMS messages add the immediacy of a photo directly into the conversation stream.
Instructions
1. Tap the "Messages" icon on the iPhone home screen.
2. Select a recipient from the list displayed or click the "New Message" icon in the upper right corner and type in the recipient's name.
3. Tap the camera icon located to the left of the text entry bar. Select "Take Photo or Video" or "Choose Existing" from the menu.
4. Choose "Take Photo or Video" to open the Camera app. Take a photo. Preview it and tap "Use" in the right corner to select the photo or "Retake" in the left corner to take another picture. The photo appears in an expanded text entry box in the Messages app. Type a message under the photo if desired.
5. Select "Choose Existing" to go to your photo albums. Tap a photo. Tap "Choose" in the lower right corner. The photo appears in an expanded text entry box in the Message app. Type a message to accompany the photo if desired.
6. Tap "Send" to send the picture text message. The photo and text display in the conversation area of the screen.
