Use The Dual Tuner Feature With Directv Dvr

Until recently, DVRs were only equipped with a single tuner facility, which was not very useful for recording more than one program. However, newer DVRs are equipped with dual tuners and offer several choices of recording and viewing. DirecTV compatible DVRs also have dual tuner features. Here's how you can use them.


Instructions








1. Ensure your DirecTV DVR is equipped with a dual tuner.


2. Confirm that the DirecTV satellite dish that you install has a "Dual Output LNB," which is able to amplify signals to indoor devices also.








3. Verify if the existing wiring system uses RG-6 coaxial cables. If not, allow the DirecTV pro to equip your house with one.


4. Make a connection through the telephone jack for installation, upgrade and billing of the system over the Internet.


5. Connect the DVR or the receiver. through a multiswitch, to all the output devices in different rooms as required.


6. Activate the DirecTV programming schedule on your DVR and equip yourself with the knowledge of its functionalities.


7. Select from the options available with the dual tuner: recording one and watching another, recording two programs simultaneously or watching a prerecorded program while recording two live shows at once.


8. Navigating through the "Easy Programming Guide," select the shows you would like to record.


9. Click, and the processes are launched.


10. Go back to view either a prerecorded show or a live one in accordance with the provision made for recording.


11. Recorded shows can be replayed at leisure by accessing them from the hard drive.
