Install A Sirius Antenna

Sirius radio broadcasts music and talk programs through satellites.

Sirius Satellite Radio provides mostly commercial-free radio that is broadcast via satellites. The satellite technology allows the company to provide a subscription-based service that gives subscribers access to more than 200 news, talk and music channels. All Sirius-activated radios receive content through an antenna that is either positioned in a house or on a car.

Instructions

Home Kit

1. Place the antenna on a desk or table so that the antenna points toward a southward-facing window.

2. Run the cord from the rear of the antenna into the Sirius home kit. Attach an antenna cord extender to the antenna cord if it isn't long enough to reach the receiver.

3. Turn the Sirius receiver on. Follow the instructions for your particular receiver to access the antenna menu (each receiver is different and requires different steps). The antenna menu will show you the level of service you have from the satellites of terrestrial repeaters. Note the signal strength next to "SAT" and "TER." The "SAT" designation is the signal strength directly from the satellite. The "TER" designation is the signal strength coming directly from signal repeaters on the ground. Reposition the antenna if the status bar is showing a low signal.

4. Position the antenna so that a majority of the "SAT" or "TER" status bars are filled. The more filled status bars, the better the signal strength.

Car Kit

5. Place the car kit mount on the dashboard via the kit's adhesive strip or by using the air vent hooks. Place it in a position that is easy to get to while driving.

6. Place the car antenna directly on the center of the roof of the car. The antenna attaches to the roof through a powerful magnet.

7. Run the wire over the roof of the car, through one of the windows and down into the car kit. Plug the antenna into the car kit docking point.

8. Turn on the receiver and follow the instructions to access the antenna menu. Determine how high the signal strength is by noting the level of the "SAT" and "TER" bars.
