Tom Tom Go 720 Features

Headquartered in the Netherlands, TomTom produces location and navigation products including portable navigation devices, automobile devices and digital maps accessible on the Internet or through mobile phones. This line offers the Go series car navigation products that includes the Go 720. Equipped with Bluetooth and a built-in speaker, microphone and FM transmitter, this system provides more options than just navigating you to one spot from the next.

Enhanced Positioning Technology

Enhanced Positioning Technology or EPT estimates your approximate location when GPS reception is poor, often the case when you drive within areas surrounded by tall buildings. Positioning sensors estimate your current location based on your acceleration and direction. This keeps the GPS on track until a stronger GPS signal is accessible. The EPT icon is shown on the status bar whenever your TomTom is using this feature.

Traffic and Changing Routes

Receive traffic information either through TomTom Traffic, a service that establishes a connection between your TomTom and Bluetooth enabled phone, or the Traffic Message Channel -- traffic information transmitted via radio signal. TomTom Traffic warns of traffic jams or other delays in your route and keeps you updated with traffic information throughout your journey. It provides an estimated delay and the distance from your current location to the next traffic incident. Specifically it provides warnings for accidents, road and lane closures, road works, traffic incidents and jams, fog, rain, wind, ice and snow. Tap a button to re-plan your route based on traffic information so you minimize traffic delays.

Safety Features

A "Help Me" button gives you access to several features, most of them related to safety. Choices include information if you need to find the nearest hospital, police station, fire station, pharmacy or car mechanic shop. The "Phone for Help" option also offers the phone numbers for such places. Additional safety options include warnings for going over the speed limit or if you are nearing a school or church.
