Set Up A Tv Receiver Antenna

Antennas used to pick up analog signals from the airwaves and transfer these signals directly to the television set. The analog signals have been replaced with digital signals. Without the aid of a digital converter box, an analog TV can no longer broadcast the signals from the antenna. Follow several steps to connect all the necessary components to allow an analog TV to receive reception from an antenna. Digital, or HD-ready, televisions can connect directly to the antenna. The FCC recommends that you use a VHF, UHF or Combined VHF/UHF antenna to receive the strongest signal.

Instructions

Analog TV

1. Power off the television and arrange it to have access to the connections on the rear of the device.

2. Plug the coaxial cable into the "Antenna Out" port on the antenna.

3. Connect the other end of the same coaxial cable into the "Antenna In" port on the back of the converter box.

4. Plug the second coaxial cable into the "TV Out" port on the digital converter box.

5. Plug the other end of the second coaxial cable into the "Antenna In" port on the rear of the television.

6. Plug in the power cable for the converter box. Arrange the antenna, converter box and TV in their respective places.

7. Power on the TV. Using the TV remote control, turn to channel 3 or 4. You should see a set-up screen for the digital converter box on one of these channels. After you see the set-up screen, follow the prompts. Use the digital converter box remote control to set up the converter box to interpret the signals from the antenna.

Digital TV

8. Power off the TV and arrange it to access to the ports on the rear of the unit.

9. Plug the coaxial cable into the antenna's "TV Out" connection.

10. Plug the coaxial cable into the digital TV's "RF/Antenna In/CATV/TV-In" port.

11. Power on the TV and follow the TV's instructions to set it up with the antenna and scan for channels.
