Connecting An Hd Tuner To Cdxgt

The CDX-GT line of compact disc players is produced by Sony, and can be installed in nearly any vehicle to give passengers the ability to listen to music while they drive. CDX-GT models do not have built-in support for high-definition (HD) radio, but they do support connecting a Sony HD radio tuner to the device to pick up these station. Connecting an HD tuner to your CDX-GT requires connecting the device to the proper inputs on the stereo.

Instructions

1. Disconnect the wires on the positive and negative terminals on your vehicle's battery before performing any stereo or HD tuner wiring. Leaving the battery connected could lead to electrical shock or electrical damage to the equipment if there is a mistake during the wiring.

2. Push the four clips on the corners of the CDX-GT faceplate and pull the stereo unit straight out to access the back of your stereo. Do not disconnect any of the connections that are already made on the back of the stereo.

3. Run the two wires labeled "Audio Out" and "Bus Control Out" from the HD tuner through the back of the opening where the stereo was. On the back of the stereo unit are two inputs labeled "Audio In" and "Bus Control In." Plug the corresponding wires from the tuner into these inputs.

4. Replace the stereo unit back into the hole in your dashboard. Press it back until the unit clicks into place. Reconnect the battery cables to the battery to restore power to the vehicle and insert the key into the ignition switch of your vehicle. Turn the key to the "Accessory" setting.

5. Press the "Power" button on the stereo to turn it on. Once it is powered on, press the "Source" button until you see "HD Radio" appear on the screen. Use the arrow buttons on the control panel to tune to a station in the same manner as tuning standard radio on the stereo.
