Transfer Hvx200 To Fcp

Transfer HVX200 to FCP

The Panasonic HVX200 is a high definition professional consumer camera. It uses Panasonic's P2 card as a method of storing footage as a digital file. When shooting on a P2, you can record 720p and 1080p high definition footage at 24, 30 and 60 frames per second. The footage from the P2 card can then be directly transferred into a Final Cut Pro timeline for editing and outputting for distribution.

Instructions

1. Connect the P2 card to your computer. There are several ways of doing this. You can leave the P2 card in the camera and connect the camera to your computer with a Firewire cable; you can insert the P2 card into a P2 reader and connect the reader to your computer using a USB port; or you can directly insert the P2 card into your computer if you have a CardBus slot.

2. Open Final Cut Pro and start a new project. Choose project settings that correspond to the method in which you shot your footage. For example, if you shot your footage at 720p24, then select your resolution as 720p and your frame rate as 24.

3. Click on "File," highlight "Import" and select "Panasonic P2" as the source device.

4. Enter a reel name to name the batch of footage you are importing.

5. Select the "Contents" folder on the P2 card to display the available footage in the "Import Panasonic P2" window.

6. Select the clips you want to import in the "Import Panasonic P2" window. You can use "Shift-click" to select all of the footage or "Command-click" to select multiple separate footage.

7. Click the "Import" button to import the selected footage into Final Cut Pro. You can then rename each clip to better reflect the contact, and begin editing the footage.
