Unroot An Evo 4g

If you rooted your HTC Evo 4G Android phone and want to unroot the phone, you can whenever you want. Unrooting the phone will return it back to its stock operating system, so you will not longer be able to use any apps that require root access. You can root your phone again later, if you want.

Instructions

1. Download Unrevoked S-On Tool and PC36IMG. Don't extract these ZIP archives.

2. Connect your HTC Evo 4G to your computer with the USB cable. Pull down the phone's Notifications bar and tap "Disk Drive." If you have used Unrevoked Forever previously, copy "Unrevoked S-On Tool" to the root folder on the phone's SD card. If you have not used Unrevoked Forever before, skip to Step 5.

3. Turn off the Evo 4G.

4. Hold the phone's "Power" button and "Volume Down" button until the phone reboots. Tap "Recovery." Tap "unrevoked-foreverson.zip" to flash it to the phone.

5. Turn the phone off, then hold the "Power" button and "Volume Down" button. Tap "Recovery." Open "Clockwork" to connect the phone via USB. You can also use Amon RA if you prefer.

6. Copy "PC36IMG" to the root folder of the phone's SD card. Click the "Safely Remove" icon in the Windows taskbar and eject the phone from your computer.

7. Turn the Evo 4G off.

8. Press the "Power" button and the "Volume Down" button to restart the phone. When you are asked whether you want to apply PC36IMG, press the "Volume Up" button. After the update completes, press "Volume Up" again to restart your unrooted HTC Evo 4G.
