Record With A Junior Velocity

The Junior Velocity microphone was first made by RCA in the 1930's for the general public as an inexpensive version of their Ribbon Velocity microphone, which was produced for professional TV and radio broadcasting. The Junior Velocity uses a standard microphone plug that won't plug directly into your recording devise. To record with a Junior Velocity microphone you will need to connect the mic to a mixer first then connect the mixer to your recording device.

Instructions

1. Connect the mixer to your recording device by plugging in an RCA cable into the "main out" on the mixer, matching the colors of the plugs with the colors of the inputs. Connect the other side of the RCA cable to the input on your recording device.

2. Insert the plug on the end of the Junior Velocity microphone into the mic input on the mixer. There is only one way the plug will fit, so don't force it in. If it doesn't fit easily twist the plug until it lines up with the input and slide it in gently.

3. Plug the power cord on the mixer into the wall outlet and turn on the mixer by pressing the power button.

4. Turn on your recording device and press record. Do a couple of test recordings to make sure your recording levels on the mixer is satisfactory. To adjust the recording levels on the mixer adjust the volume knob dedicated to the microphone on the mixer.
