Tokina Vs Canon Lens

Tokina is a Japanese, third-party camera lens manufacturer that produces lenses for major camera companies including Canon. Lenses manufactured and sold by Tokina are intended to be used with single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras.

History

According to the Tokina website, their current line of "Advanced Technology-Extra" of AT-X lenses has been under development since 1981.

Lens Selection

According to the Tokina website, as of November 3, 2009, there are eight lenses available for Canon SLR cameras. According to the Canon website, there are 60 lenses available for their SLR cameras.

Lens Compatibility

Information from the Tokina website indicates that the eight lenses currently available function properly with Canon cameras. However, four of the lenses are only intended to be used with the digital SLR cameras from Canon. These four lenses will not work with the film SLR cameras from Canon.

Lens Availability

According to the Tokina and Canon websites, both Tokina and Canon lenses are available for purchase throughout the United States. Canon lenses can be purchased directly from Canon or through authorized dealers. However, Tokina lenses are only available in the United States from authorized resellers. More information about the availability of Tokina in the United States can be found at the THK Photo Products, Inc website.

Lens Features
