Remove A Stuck Cd From A Carousel Player

You finally did it--you broke down and bought an MP3 player, and you're ready to load it with songs. When you try to take your favorite CD out of your old faithful carousel--old faithful isn't ready to give it up. Try a few different methods to remove a stuck CD from a carousel player.

Instructions

1. There's an easy solution that in many cases works to fix this problem. Close the bay door, unplug the carousel, then turn it completely upside-down. Give it a slight shake, but not too hard, it is high-priced electronic equipment after all. Turn the carousel back over to the right side, plug it back in, and open the bay door. Chances are good the CD will have fallen back into place and you can take it out.

2. If the upside-down trick doesn't work, then it's time to move on to the screwdriver. On the back of the carousel, find the screws that hold the top of the carousel in place--there should be two. Unplug the machine and remove these two screws. You should have a top-side view of the inside of the carousel. Using the eraser side of the pencil, poke the CD until it falls back onto the tray. Reattach the cover and the screws, plug it back in, and open the door to remove the CD.

3. If the CD is somehow caught halfway between out and in--that is, jammed between the case and the door bay--first unplug the machine. Ease the CD back and forth in a clockwise motion until you can remove it from the jam. If your CD scratches a little, that's OK--most CDs can play with a little scratch. Wipe the CD down with a cloth and then put it back in the carousel tray.

4. Does the door to the carousel not open at all? Straighten out the paper clip and look for a small hole that will manually release the door so you can pull it open. When pulling, don't yank--pull at an easy pace.
