Bose headsets have been a standard in electronics since 1989, when pilots and passengers first used them to cut down on noise on airplanes. In 2010, the headsets serve a dual purpose: to play music or reduce nearby audio distractions. To achieve one purpose or the other under different circumstances, a high/low feature is available for the headsets.
High Setting Features
When your Bose headphones are set to high, you will be able to listen to music or simply relax in normally loud places, such as inside airplanes in flight, in line at a busy and crowded coffee shop or outside near a set of train tracks. The sounds heard within the headphones, whether music or white noise, are louder than those heard on the low setting.
Low Setting Features
When your Bose headphones are set to low, you can use them to listen to music or relax in less noisy areas, such as in a park in the early morning, on a jog around the neighborhood or inside your bedroom as you prepare for sleep.
Setting the High or Low Function
To set the headphones to the high or low setting:
Ensure that the connector cable that was packed with the headphones is not plugged into the headphones.
Ensure that a new AAA battery is plugged into the right ear of the headphones.
Find the connecting jack at the end of the connector cable.
Remove the restraint and find the words "hi" and "lo" written on a button inside.
If you want to use the high setting, push the button until it is right across from the word "hi." If you want to hear the low setting, move the button until it is right across from the word "lo."
Put the restraint back on.
Plug the connecting jack back into the headphones.
While it may be an inconvenience to have to remove the jack every time you want to change the setting, having the option to switch between a noise-canceling setting and a noise-balancing setting allows you to adapt to different environments, either while enjoying music or peace and quiet.
