If you have loaded your Microsoft Zune with media to the point where you can no longer keep it organized, or if you have purchased a used Zune and would like to begin loading it with your own songs, you may be looking for the fastest way to erase the data on the unit and start over. The Zune software has a quick erase function that clears all data from the Zune in a single step.
Instructions
1. Launch the Microsoft Zune software. Connect the Zune to your computer using the included USB cable and allow a few moments for the Zune to be detected by the Zune software.
2. Confirm that all of the media that you want to keep on the Zune is backed up on your computer. Restoring the Zune will erase all of the data presently on it, and this process cannot be reversed.
3. Navigate to the "Settings" menu, then click "Device." This will display a new menu. Navigate to "Sync Options," then click "Erase All Content."
4. Confirm that you are ready to erase all of the content on your Zune by clicking "Yes" after reading the warning. After a few moments, the music and other media on the Zune will be erased.
