Troubleshoot The Kodak 5500 Aio Fax Machine

The 5500 AIO fax machine from Kodak has a wide array of features that you will use and enjoy often. It has all the standard features of a fax machine, with a few special attributes like Bluetooth device recognition and photo-quality copying. During the AIO fax machine's life, you might experience a problem or two. Kodak has made this fax machine straightforward enough that you can handle most challenges on your own. Many times, reviewing the issue and following basic troubleshooting instructions easily solve these problems.

Instructions

Fax Machine Won't Start

1. Plug the fax machine's power cord into an outlet or power strip and turn on the machine.

2. Make sure the electricity running to the outlet is turned on. If you are using a power strip, make sure the strip is turned on.

3. Plug another device into the outlet or strip to check for power, if the 5500 AIO machine still won't turn on.

4. Use a different outlet or strip to connect the fax machine to power.

Won't Recognize Bluetooth Devices

5. Check that the device seeking connection to the fax machine has its Bluetooth radio turned on.

6. Refer to the device's specifications to see whether it uses BIP, FTP or OPP profiles. If the device uses anything else, it will not connect to the fax machine.

7. Place the device within 30 feet of the AIO fax to allow for the detection of a signal.

8. Enter a PIN into the device sending data, if prompted. This is a pairing procedure to ensure security of Bluetooth transfers.

Paper Jams and Multiple Feeds

9. Depress the latches on the back of the machine to open the access panel door. You will be able to see the rollers in the machines. Make sure the machine is off when you clear the paper jam.

10. Ease the jammed paper out of rollers slowly so as not to tear any paper.

11. Replace the cover on the access panel.

12. Straighten all the paper in the paper supply, removing any crumbled or ragged pages. These damaged pages cause the rollers to take in more paper than it should and not feed them out properly.

No Communication Between Fax and Computer

13. Unplug any other printing or scanning devices from the computer.

14. Plug the square end of the fax's USB cable into the port on the back of the machine. It is right above the power port.

15. Insert the flat end of the cable into one of the computer's USB ports. These ports may be found on the keyboard or on the back of the computer.

16. Restart your computer. If the fax still is not recognized, check your system's profile to see if it meets the minimum requirements for the Kodak 5500 AIO.
