Instructions For A Canon Powershot

The Canon PowerShot line of digital cameras combines point-and-click simplicity with high-quality optics. PowerShot cameras provide optical and digital zoom, a multi-megapixel image sensor and a built-in flash for low-light photography. PowerShot cameras also feature an LCD display for configuring camera settings and previewing and deleting images. The provided removable flash memory card lets you store hundreds of photos. When the card is full, you can transfer the images to your computer with the included USB cable.

Instructions

1. Install the batteries into the camera. Open the battery cover and insert the batteries into the slot. Close the battery cover. The number and type of batteries required depends on the PowerShot model you own. Most PowerShots use two or four AA batteries.

2. Insert the memory card into the camera. Open the memory card slot cover. Slide the memory card into the slot, and close the cover. Check the directions printed on the memory card slot cover before inserting the memory card. Most PowerShots use Secure Digital (SD) or CompactFlash memory cards.

3. Press the power switch on the upper right side of the camera.

4. Set the camera to "Auto" mode. The camera will automatically detect the appropriate ISO light-sensitivity level and whether to use the flash. Some PowerShot models use a dial to set the mode, while others use a switch.

5. Point the camera at the subject. If your PowerShot camera has a viewfinder, look through it. Otherwise, use the LCD display to aim the camera.

6. Adjust the optical zoom until you have the subject properly framed in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen. Press the zoom lever to the right to zoom in or left to zoom out. Press the shutter button half way down to focus the camera. Press it all the way down to take the picture.

7. Transfer the picture to your computer. Plug one end of the USB transfer cable into the camera. Insert the other end into a USB port on your computer. Turn on the camera. Click the Windows "Start" button and "Computer." Double-click the "PowerShot" drive icon to view its contents. Drag and drop the image to your computer.
