Install A Sony Xplod Cd Player

Sony calls the Xplod a "CD Radio Cassette-Corder." You may know it as a boombox. The Xplod is an aggressively styled device featuring a large 130mm power-drive woofer. The 20-watt device has an included remote control and can handle readable or read/write CDs. If you've outgrown cassettes and CDs, then MP3 players are accommodated with an audio input jack.

Instructions

1. Connect the power cord or insert eight size-D batteries into the battery compartment. The battery compartment is under the unit. If you want to use the unit on batteries, disconnect the main power.

2. Load the remote with batteries. The remote takes two AA batteries. Lift up the remote's battery cover and insert the batteries. Be sure to get the polarity correct.

3. Hook up any headphones. Connect the headphones to the headphones jack. The headphone jack is located below the left-hand speaker if you're looking at the face of the boombox.

4. Turn the power of any portable digital music player off. Make sure the power is off on the boombox, too. Slide the Audio-In jack cover off. The Audio-In jack is below the right-hand speaker if you're looking at the front of the boombox. Just slide the cover forward and then it hinges outward.

5. Hook up the optional equipment such as an MP3 player. There's a built-in audio cable with a stereo mini-plug, or you can use an audio connecting cable, which is not supplied. Connect it to the line-output jack.

6. Turn the volume control to a low setting and turn on the power. Turn the MP3 player on and press "Audio In" on the control panel.

7. Turn the volume up slowly. The output from the MP3 player is through the boombox.
