Remove Hp Media Card Reader

Media card readers are used as input devices for various types of media cards, such as SD cards. Some HP computers come with media card readers installed in the drive bay by your HP's optical drive and hard drives. You can remove the media card reader completely or swap the reader in for a new or upgraded drive.

Instructions

1. Shut off your HP desktop computer. Turn the back of the HP desktop to face front. Unplug all of the cables currently connected to the computer.

2. Remove the two thumbscrews on the back of the case. Pull the right-side panel towards you and remove it from the case.

3. Lever the left side of the HP desktop case open with the flat head screwdriver, or a similar flat object. Remove this panel from your computer.

4. Depress the front cover tabs and open the cover. Remove the cover from the system.

5. Unscrew the screw directly below your card reader. Pull the card reader out of your HP desktop case and remove the USB cable.
