Repair A Canoscan Flatbed Scanner

The CanoScan scanner connects to your home computer by using a USB cable.

In addition to cameras, lenses, flashes and photocopiers, Canon also manufactures a line of flatbed scanners known under the name "CanoScan." The scanners connect to your home computer using a USB cable and will scan different media into your computer. If the scanner stops working, it may be a communication problem resulting from a faulty cable. If there is a power problem or if the scanner appears to work but no scan is created, then you may need to consult an authorized repair facility as the problem may be more complex and required trained service technicians to make the necessary repairs.

Instructions

1. Check the scanner's power and USB cable connections. Make sure the cables are connected correctly and there is power going to the scanner.

2. Open the CanoScan software that was included with the scanner when you purchased it and confirm the software is working properly. Generally software will be able to identify if there is a communication problem between your computer and the scanner.

3. Close unnecessary windows or other programs you may have running. Having too many program running could cause the scanner not to work because the computer may not have sufficient memory to run all of the programs at the same time.
