Create Droplets In Photoshop

If you are working in advertising or other illustration fields, you may someday have to create an image of a cold can of beer or soda with dew on the outside, or rain droplets running down a window. Even if you know create the object, you also need to know make the little water droplets. You can do this in Adobe Photoshop.

Instructions

1. Open Photoshop. Go to "File," click "Open" and open the image to which you would like to add droplets. Go to the "Layers" panel and click on the "New Layer" icon. Click on the new layer to select it.

2. Select the "Elliptical Marquee" tool. Hold down the Shift key. Then drag several times on the canvas with the tool to create a series of drop shapes. The tool lets you control the shape as you create your drops, so make sure they are elongated vertically.

3. Go to the "Gradient" tool and drag it across the canvas. Go back to the Layers panel and change the Blending Mode from "Normal" to "Overlay."

4. Go to "Blending Options." Click on the "Drop Shadow" and "Inner Shadow." Play with the settings of each, such as the "Angle" and the "opacity," until they look right (which is the best way to judge what you are doing). Create a new layer.

5. Go to the Toolbar and change the "Foreground" color to a light yellow. Then select the brush tool, make the "Opacity" of the brush 50 percent and use a single touch of the brush near the top corner of the drops to add highlights.
