Flash A Blackberry 8330

Flash a BlackBerry 8330

Smartphones such as the BlackBerry 8330 enable users to bring their life on the go and provide features that blend telephone and computer. The functionality and operation of the BlackBerry 8330 is dependent on application software and an operating system created by BlackBerry, the cellular service provider, and third-party installations. A flash helps to maintain optimal performance, eliminate errors and bugs, and bring the BlackBerry 8330 up to the most current software version.

Instructions

1. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager on a computer. Perform software installation of BlackBerry Desktop Manager, if necessary, from the original CD included with your BlackBerry 8330 device. Ensure you have the latest version of the software from the BlackBerry website. Follow software prompts as necessary during updates or installation.

2. Power on your BlackBerry 8330. Connect the BlackBerry 8330 to your computer using the USB connector. Click on the "Device Manager" tab within BlackBerry Desktop Manager and locate your device in the list that appears. Note that your device is operating on a "com" port with a number after it, indicating the location of your BlackBerry connection to your computer. Highlight your device by clicking on the highest number, com-4.

3. Click the "BlackBerry" heading within the Desktop Manager and look for "QPST." Select "QPST Configuration" from this drop-down menu to open the "QPST" file, which is the flash software for the BlackBerry 8330. Wait for the configuration window to open on your computer.

4. Click on the tab marked "Ports" at the top of the window and select "Add New Port." Select "Com 4" and note that your BlackBerry device is now listed on the "Phone" menu within the QPST window. Click "Start Clients" within the QPST window and then click "Service Programming." Confirm your selection by pressing "OK" when prompted by the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Locate the file ending in ".bb" within the list of files that appears in a new window. Click to select the ".bb" file. Press "OK" to confirm your selection when prompted.

5. Select the "Roam" menu from the QPST screen and then select "Browse" to view a list of service providers for the BlackBerry 8330 device. Click on the name of your desired service provider. Begin to flash your device by pressing the "Write to Phone" button at the bottom of the window.
