What Is Customer Programming Software

Customer Programming Software, also simply called CPS, is a Motorola computer program. The program is designed to help customers set up and customize the functionality of their Motorola Commercial Series two-way radios.

Function

Customer Programming Software is designed to adjust the usability and functionality of Motorola radios to best suit the environment they're used in and the needs of the users. The software lets you set the Radio ID and Radio Stun, as well as the five-tone and emergency signaling configurations.

Training

Motorola offers two-hour, self-paced online Customer Programming Software training course for $99, as of February 2011. The course teaches you to navigate the CPS menus, configure the software for portable and mobile radios, set up the radios' Scanning and Call lists, as well as to save and retrieve programming files within the software.

Considerations

The Customer Programming Software comes on a CD, meaning that you'll need a CD-ROM drive to install and use the software. Motorola Commercial Series radios use a serial cable to connect to your computer. If your PC doesn't have a serial port, use a USB-to-serial adapter.
