Dish Vs Directv

Dish Network and DirecTV are very similar in their technology and product offerings. Both brands provide a quality picture and are priced lower than options such as cable. Here are some slight differences in the basic features and pricing.


DVR


Both Dish Network and DirecTV offer standard DVR features. However, DirecTV has what it describes as digital recording while Dish has dual tuner receiver. Both versions allow for recording a program while watching another. DirecTV has one-touch recording and Dish has name-based recording. DirecTV can record up to 100 hours while Dish can record 350 hours.


HD TV


As far as HD TV features, both companies provide Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround.


However, DirecTV records 200 hours in non-HD and records 50 hours in HD.


Dish records 350 hours in non-HD and records 55 hours in HD.








The DVR subscription fee for DirecTV is $4.99 a month and Dish's is $5.98 per month.


Channels


DirecTV has 96 HD channels with a basic HD package of $39.98. Dish has 55 and a basic package starting at $24.99. Both offer free installation within seven days of ordering.


Regular Programming








The monthly charge for DirecTV's family plan of regular programming is $29.99, while Dish's regular family plan is $19.99. Dish's other packages are all also about $10 per month cheaper than DirecTV. Adding HD is $10 per month for each service.


Dish Versus DirecTV


Both offer quality services and are constantly trying to improve their product offerings.


Both are very similar in channels, though DirecTV has NFL Sunday Ticket.
