There are 15 Lumix 5.0 megapixel point and shoot cameras in Panasonic's DMC series. The Lumix camera line's compact size, simple interface and use of affordable SD memory cards make them ideal cameras for consumers. Occasionally, Lumix owners will have trouble with their camera; however, there are quick solutions for the camera's most common issues.
Instructions
1. Verify that the Lumix is not in "Playback" mode if you unable to record movies or pictures. If the camera is in "Playback" mode, press the boxed-green triangle button. Check the camera display to make sure the SD card is not full, and has room to save more images. If the flash is charging, indicted by an orange light, the Lumix will not start recording. Once the flash is charged and fire-ready, the orange light will stop blinking, and recording can commence.
2. Press the power button on top of the camera to see if your Lumix is powering on. If the camera remains turned off, make sure the SD card cover is properly closed, and try pressing the power button once more. If the Lumix still does not turn on, open the battery compartment, and make sure that the batteries are correctly placed in the battery compartment. Replace or recharge the AA batteries in the event they are dead. If powering on the Lumix is still not possible, remove the batteries and clean out the battery compartment. Try powering on the camera again.
3. Leave the Lumix camera powered on undisturbed for several minutes until the lens retracts automatically. If the camera lens does not retract, examine both the battery and SD card compartment doors. Close the doors if they are open, and turn the camera on and off. Lens retraction should occur.
4. Hold the batteries for the Lumix close to your body, or enclose them in a warming pad before use if you are working in an environment that is below 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Cold temeperatures can cause the camera batteries to run out too quickly, since the lack of heat hinders battery function. If your batteries have been unused for more than a year, their charge capacity will likely be inhibited. After several charges, the batteries will recalibrate and last longer.
5. Use the built-in Lumix flash to avoid recording blurry pictures while shooting. Blur typically occurs in low light situations, causing camera shake. Use a tripod along with the built-in flash, if you are shooting in lower light, to stabilize the camera and prevent camera shake.
