Rci 2950 Specs

The Ranger RCI-2950DX radio system is a radio communication system available commercially for consumers. Marketed by Ranger as an entry level mobile transceiver for amateurs, the RCI-2950DX boasts a number of features for ham radio enthusiasts including control over two amateur bands, a programmable repeater offset and CTCSS tone capability.

Frequency Range and Control

The Ranger RCI-2950DX has a 12 meter frequency range of 24.8900 to 24.9900 MHz, and a 10 meter range of 28.0000 to 29.6999 MHz. The frequency can be tuned at steps of 100 Hz, 1 KHz, 10 KHz, 100 KHz and 1 MHz. The frequency control system uses a phase-lock-loop synthesizer and has a tolerance of 0.005 percent, with a rated frequency stability of 0.001 percent. The system emits upper (USB) and lower (LSB) sideband transmissions, continuous wave (CW) transmission, and AM and FM transmission.

Dimensions, Meter Function and Microphone

The Ranger RCI-2950DX is 7.75-inches wide, 10.75-inches long and 2.0375-inches tall, and weighs in at 4.19 lbs. The meter functions as an RF output, an RX signal strength receiver, and short-wave radio. The included microphone is a six-pin plug-in 400 ohm push-to-talk handset. The input voltage for the RCI-2950DX is 13.8 V of direct current.

Transmitter

The Ranger RCI-2950DX has an RF power output of 25 W when transmitting USB and LSB at peak power, and 10 W when transmitting over CW, AM and FM. The antenna is connected with a UHF 50 ohm type connector, and has an impedance of 50 ohm. Transmission modulation types include 16F3, A3E, J3E, and A1A. Spurious emissions are usually greater than 60 dB, while the transmitter's carrier suppression -50 dB.

Receiver

The receiver has an audio power output of 2.5 W, and an image rejection ratio of -65 dB. When receiving AM and CW transmissions, it is sensitive to 0.5 μ for 10dB Sinad. When receiving FM transmissions, it's sensitive to 0.25 μ for 12dB Sinad. When receiving USB and LSB transmissions, it's sensitive to 0.15 μ for 10dB Sinad. The automatic gain control's figure of merit for CW, AM, and single-sideband modulation (SSB) is 80 dB at 50 mV for a 10 dB change in audio output.
