Nikon D2x Vs D200

Nikon no longer produces the D200, introduced in 2004, or the D2X, introduced in 2005. Both models can be found in the second-hand market through private sales, online auctions, or camera stores, both online and in brick-and-mortar stores.

Megapixels

Nikon's D200 has 10.2 megapixels. The D2X has 12.4 megapixels. CNET recommends a camera of at least seven megapixels if a photographer is going to print the photographs taken. Because of the additional megapixels, the D2X allows a photographer to crop an image more than the D200 and still get a printable image.

ISO

The D200 has an ISO range of 100 to 1600. The D2X's ISO ranges from 100 to 800. ISO is a measurement of a sensor's sensitivity to light. Because the D200's maximum ISO is higher than the D2X, the D200 allows a photographer to take a picture with less light.

Size

The D200 is 5.8 inches wide, 4.4 inches tall and 2.9 inches deep. It weighs 29.3 ounces. Because the D2X is a professional camera, it is bigger and weighs more than the D200. The D2X is 6.2 inches wide, 5.9 inches tall, and 3.4 inches deep. It weighs 38.4 ounces.

Power

The D200 uses a rechargeable EN-EL3e lithium-ion battery. The D2X also uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the EN-EL4.

Speed

Both the D200 and the D2X can take up to four frames per second in continuous low-speed mode, or up to five frames per second when set on continuous high-speed mode. Both cameras have a top shutter speed of 1/8,000 of a second. The slowest shutter speed for both cameras is 30 seconds.
