Osaka Denki Onkyo KK started in 1946 as a record player pickup manufacturer. In 2007, Onkyo introduced the world's first receivers capable of handling both video and audio in high definition. Onkyo's TX-SA806 AV (audio visual) amplifiers and TX-SR806 AV receivers feature THX surround sound and Dolby True HD. Problems with the Onkyo 806-series equipment can be corrected by following some troubleshooting steps.
Instructions
1. Verify that the power cord is plugged into the wall outlet or power strip if the Onkyo won't turn on.
2. Make sure the sources are connected properly if there's no sound or the sound is very quiet. Look for loose or missing cables. HDMI cables can easily fall out of the jacks if the Onkyo has been moved. The TX-SR806 and TX-SR806 need inputs like that from a CD player, so check that the source is turned on too.
3. Set the "Monitor Out" setting to "HDMI" if you are using a television connected with an HDMI cable. HDMI cables have a flat plug with 19 pins, unlike component cables, which have round plugs. You'll find the button to set this on the lower panel on the front of the Onkyo 806.
4. Reset the Onkyo 806 AV Receiver/AV amplifier to its factory defaults if you continue to have problems. Hold down the "VCR/DVD" button while pressing the "On/Standby" button. "Clear" will show up on the display, and the device will enter its standby mode. Only do this as a last resort because all of your settings, such as radio presets and calibration, will be lost.
